We accompany Scrooge on his journey of self-discovery, meeting the few people with whom he has any contact, such as his nephew Fred and Bob Cratchit, his clerk and his family. It is obvious that he has many opportunities to do good with his accumulated wealth if he would only take them. Gradually Scrooge’s eyes are opened and he becomes aware of the plight of others. He is shown the kind of future there will be for himself and others if he does not alter his ways and begs for a second chance before it’s too late.
